Oerol: a few pics and vids

We are having a lovely time at the Oerol Festival. Theater, beaches, biking, good food, little backyard good for meditation, clouds, goats and ponies, the Dutch - it's all the good things.

Here are some observations, thoughts, pictures, videos to complement Willa Marie and Jessica's show reviews.

The Ocean

We biked up to the Atlantic side of the Island to see a large sound installation. Speakers were mounted on poles along a wide kilometer of beach, playing an operatic soundscape composed to blend with the wind and the sound of the waves. There were some grassy dunes, lots of blowing sand and many elaborate washed up jellyfish waiting for the next tide. Simple and cool.

(actual sound - not a sound track)

Sleep

Wow we sleep late here. The nighttime shows wait for the sun to go down so that means 10:30pm. We bike home in the dark at midnight or later and then we sleep. We sleep and dream like mad until almost noon. (Well, Willa Marie and Jessica do - I wake up earlier and crawl around and drink coffee and read and get my critical alone time in.)

Going to the Theater

It's so awesome to have your trip to the theater be on a bike through the dunes and past the noncommittal gazes goats and wary eyes of the HUGE hares. Here's us waiting for last night's show.

Hanging with the Youths

On the night our show was canceled due to rain I went and joined the kids at a show.

Feasting

In order to save money we only eat one meal out a day and cook in our AirBnB for the others. We've had some nice meals though.

Love to you all.
